Partridge Art Work

Materials Needed:

• Burlap
• Colored fabric
• Colored buttons
• Green felt
• Green duster (from dollar store or some fake grass
• Old frame
• Cardboard
• Glue gun
• Glue sticks
• Twigs or pipe cleaners for legs
• A few bugle beads

Measure your cardboard and cut it to the size of your frame. (You won't need the glass). Spread burlap over cardboard and glue into place. You can also help secure it with a few pieces of duck tape or masking tape. Once the burlap is secured onto cardboard you are ready to begin.

I made 2 bird shaped templates from the cardboard. You will need 1 large bird and 3 small birds (unless you want less or more). You will also need 3 cardboard wings and 1 larger wing. You can draw these free hand and then cut them in cardboard. Once you have your cardboard bird templates cover with colorful fabric and glue them down onto the burlap allowing about 2 inches for your grassy area. I used bugle beads for eyes and pipe cleaners for the legs but I think next time twigs would have looked so much cuter.

For the grass you can either use moss,or Easter grass or like me I used a cleaning mitt that I got from the dollar store. It was green so I cut it apart and then glued it down it bits and pieces. I then added button flowers and green felt stems with bugle beads for the stamens (centers).

Turkey Day is almost here...

Sorry folks I was incapacitated due to hand surgery.

There are so many beautiful leaves still falling from the trees. It would be a festive idea to pick these leaves and either tie or tape them to some yarn or string as a decoration for thanksgiving day.


If you can't find leaves then why not make your own and color them in the "colors of autumn".


Another fun thing to make are leaf placemats to sit on the table. Use a sturdy 11x14 cardboard,glue leaves to cardboard and cover with transparent contact paper or laminate. You can write each persons name on the mat before laminating.

Easy Pasta Necklace For Preschoolers

Trying to find a craft for our little tykes. We have been running around likec crazy trying to get school supplies and clothes for the older kids. Now it's time for the little one. With a little help from Mom he/she can make a pasta necklace.


Materials:

• Macaroni (alternative: penne or ziti pasta)
• Paint (alternative: magic markers or food coloring and rubbing alcohol)
• String

Instructions:

The pasta for this project can be colored a number of ways. Kids can paint it, color it with magic markers or use food coloring to do the trick. For the last method, add rubbing alcohol and a few drops of food coloring to a Ziploc bag and mix the contents around until all the pasta is coated with color.
Once the pasta has dried, it can be strung onto the string in all sorts of attractive designs, and then, it's ready to be presented to mom.
